Have Watched 5 Episodes But Not Enjoying It ... Should I Continue?

Based on my love of HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREET and THE WIRE, I purchased the complete series box set of TREME without ever having seen an episode. It seems to have all the right ingredients - - David Simon at the helm AND some of my favorite actors (John Seda, David Morse, Melissa Leo, etc.)

However, I have watched the first 5 episodes and honestly, I'm not impressed. It seems the plots drag out way too long and there are way too many characters to keep up with. Also, it breaks away too much from what's happening to feature musical numbers.

Does anyone else agree with me? Is it worth continung to watch? Anyone wanna by my boxset at a reasonable price? :)

?? Don't bother then..sorry. the plot will drag on for, what 5 Seasons. Hey its the plot. It bounces back and forth between al the different plots And there are a lot of characters and what is New Orleans, without Second line, the politics of indifference towards some of the people. And the music,, They had Dr. John, Elvis Costello. Anyway.. I watched maybe 1 episode of The Wire not my cup of tea. Treme has some historical redeeming value. Good luck I'm reaching presently. Season 1. On episode 8.

It's stretched out. It's generally about the day to day of these peoples lives stretched out over almost a year. And the music numbers are part of the story because the music is part of the city.

Give it the other five episodes. Don't make a judgement until you've seen the whole first season. I love the series but even I found the first few episodes a bit hard to take because Davis was VERY hard to like or even stand, and what the Chief does when his tools are stolen almost made me stop (I can understand but still it seemed too much).

If you don't like it after five eps then you won't like the rest. It's set-up very well after episode one so you may as well let it go because everything else is just more like it.
