I cried for all the mothers.

Wow, I finally watched this film and it really moved me. I suppose I avoided it before because I thought it would be too preachy or boring. Boy was I wrong. It's the best film I've seen in a very long time.

I've heard other people say they cried for the animals or for kids with autism, but I cried for the mothers. I remember learning about Autism back in 70's/80's when they still thought it was caused by cold uncaring mothers. That was so cruel to the mothers. And it was so cruel to the kids to be treated like a lost cause.

Julia Ormand's performance in this film was exceptional. I loved the scenes when she stood up to the doctors and teachers. Her best scene was at the end of the film at the autism conference. It was so moving and hopeful. When she fought the tears, I had to let mine go. I felt so bad for all those frustrated mothers who were trying to help their children. The so called experts were clueless. But eventually many of those mothers found ways to share information and help one another. And they found role models in people like Temple Grandin and her mother. That's the part that makes me feel hopeful for the future.

Ahhh, don't cry for me . I cried enough and after all that, my husband and I got adequate help for our two autistic kids. Thanks, for thinking of us.

The New York Rangers suck. And Sidney Crosby is a cry baby!

As one of those mothers, I thank you. It is definitely not easy, but I try to remind myself that things are even harder for my daughter than for me.

Yes, and the final scene, when Temple is giving her all that credit, really got me crying, but with happy tears.
