For all the haters I'm guessing it's personal

I noticed some specific targeting in this section. Perhaps the haters have a personal vendetta against certain people in the cast, crew or maybe the director...just a thought. If that's not the case, it truly amazes me how people waste their time trashing things. When I don't like a TV show or movie I simply turn it off. I don't force myself to sit through it so I can run to IMDB to trash it.

In my humble opinion, this is a decent movie for what it is. To put things in perspective for those that can't: War Wolves is a 500k SciFi Channel movie, it's never going to compare to a 22 million dollar Underworld (action and special effects wise) and if it did, it probably wouldn't of aired on the SCIFI Channel.

you are damn right!!!!

PERSONALLY....I'M getting sick and tired of the term 'haters' being bandied about these forums constantly, simply because people rightly call a POS as they see it. I mean, Christ-Adrienne Barbeau, Tim Thomerson-in more than just a cameo for a change- and an acting legend-JOHN frigging SAXON , for God's sake, and they still dropped the ball. A dumbass comedy ending to top it all off, probably because they didn't know how to end it.

I personally think anyone and everyone is entitled to their opinion; hopefully an intelligent one to help others make their own judgments. When someone is a fan of something they usually are specific about what they like. When someone isn't a fan, they are usually specific about that too. When someone just talks trash, that's specific too. To me that's a "hater", someone who's trying to ruin other peoples experience or prevent them from making a choice to have one at all. We all have different tastes. Just because one person doesn't like something, doesn't mean another person won't as well. For example: someone in this thread said DOG SOlDIERS was awesome and UNDERWORLD was trash. I thought the complete opposite. I couldn't get through DOG SOLDIERS and loved UNDERWORLD, which was a box office smash with sequels as a result.

Are you kidding me? I came here because I was bored while watching the movie. I don't care what it was made for, it's terrible. There are 38 "10" ratings if we want to talk about people for whom it's personal...

reply

Smallbob: So the film bored you so much, you decided to waste more of your life and come to IMDB to respond to my post. Why not just change the channel or take the DVD out of the player and do something more productive with your time? Perhaps you're just bored in general and it had nothing to do with War Wolves.

Now if the film had an overall 10 rating, I might start to question that myself. Not saying you couldn't be right, perhaps the 38 people who gave it 10s are all family members of the cast and crew or maybe...just maybe, they are people who did like the film. Yes, it's possible.

Welcome to planet Earth. I know it's scary, but yes, people here have different opinions, thought processes and tastes. Not saying I don't think you or anyone for that matter isn't entitled to their opinion, but to state it as fact is ignorant, kinda like saying, "everyone I meet likes me."

It still wasnt very good not as bad as people are saying but only a 4 for me.

reply

No, it's nothing personal for more than this is a POS.

Think a real low budget Werewolf movie that has mated with The Lost Boys.
Throw in an attempt of recreating parts of Black Hawk Down. Imagine a total failure on all parts and you have a pretty good picture on how this movie is.

The problem with this movie is that they had absolutely no idea where they were going. For the love of god, they focus more on those pathetic AA scenes than the main story. Amateurish attempt to make a psychological thriller, I guess.
No matter how hard you try, there's no possible way that you will feel with the characters. Not even when they throw an over the top whining sound track on top of the mess. I almost threw up when they played Ave Maria at the end.

Watching the first half of the movie is like drinking a bucket of pi**. Watching the other half is like asking for seconds. Avoid this. Watch something else. You have been warned.

Dog Soldiers was a made for tv Sci Fi Channel movie. and thats was actually good. so no excuse on that front. and underworld is as weak as they come so no worrys about that compairison.

I think DS was a full on movie, as in, intended for theaters or DVD, not straight to TV. It was made in Europe somewhere (Scotland maybe?), and the sci fi channel bought it to play in the US, unless i've got wrong info about something.

And the OP is funny. He says it personal when someone dislikes it, but being a fan is just normal. Coming to a board to praise it is fine, but if you didn't like the movie you must be a hater who wastes time on this board (as opposed to a lover of the film who wastes time on the board?).

Then he goes into the 'it's all opinion' thing, which had he thought of earlier, would completely negate his initial post. Funny funny stuff... nowhere does it say this is a fan page, it's open to everyone, get used to it OP, or cry about it somewhere else...

"Who's OP? " ... OP stands for "Original Poster" ... as in the person who started the current discussion thread. (http://acronyms.thefreedictionary.com/OP)

I'm watching the movie, as I type this. It's finishing up on SyFy channel (formerly Sci-Fi Channel) right now.

It's not high art, but it's a perfect Saturday afternoon monster movie. Fun to have on in the background while catching up on email or looking up actors on IMDB ... like Adrienne Barbeau and John Saxon.

Also, as a table-top RPG'er ... there are a lot of good ideas to pull for game sessions.

Dog Soldiers WAS a movie for theaters. I saw it in one ! If you look at DS, there's a "realease dates", and it was a theatrical release in several countries, Europe included.
Though the "N°1 in England !!!!!" tag was a load of bollocks, according to my Brit mates. It was barely released there…

reply

You are correct, Dog Soldiers was done as a full movie and had a cinema release, yes it was low budget, but what Bob Keen did in creating some of the most realistic werewolves seen on film was a miracle.
What I personally find amusing is that it is the main focus of bad mouthing for the film originates in the states, when some of these people were asked how it could have been better the reply as you might guess was "it should have been made in the states".
This is a complete ripoff of Dog Soldiers, superior script, acting and effects are all in Dog Soldiers and was filmed with less than half the budget.

Don't scare me....i poop easily

treverse, you guessed wrong. We review and voice our opinion of these horrible movies because people like you are not honest enough to write the truth.

You like a s**t movie, and there's nothing wrong with that. Trying to convince others that this is something more than grade D crap is dishonest. Calling people "haters" because they don't like the same s**t you like is childish and pathetic. The 3.1 rating this received here on IMDB is accurate, it was just a horrible waste of film. Most of the dialog was junk, it was often delivered poorly and the action/fight/shoot-out scenes were weak. The attempts at humor fell flat as well.

I happen to like John Saxon, Tim Thomerson, Adrienne Barbeau and Art LaFleur. The film still sucked, deal with it.
