A great what-if subject, but will the movie deliver?

An ancient empire virtually in ashes. A people defeated and downtrodden. Then comes a great leader and creates a winning republic out of that wreck.

The film dwells on, what would happen if this great leader didn't emerge and the Ottoman Empire became a puppet Ottoman Republic. Possibilities boggle the mind.

I hate Ata Demirer, but somehow he seems cut for the role of a puppet king.
