Just watched it at ANOH film festival.

Think I'll pass on this one. I Spit On Your Grave (the 1978 version not the terrible remake) set the bar too high IMO. Every rape/revenge movie I've seen pales in comparison to that one. I saw in at the drive in with 2 buddies and during what seemed to be an endless rape scene the van was silent. None of us said a word. I applaud Camille Keaton for her performance. Very powerful and very moving.

I felt some sympathy for Matthew because he was more or less forced to participate in the rape given his simple nature. But we all agreed the others got what they deserved.

What I find odd is that in some of these rape/revenge garbage movies I've seen the rape scenes were censored while the revenge parts were left intact. Like this movie for instance. I just read about the extended version and most of the extra footage involves the rape. So it's alright to show a woman brutalizing a man during the "revenge" part but not ok to show a man brutalizing a woman during the rape part. Why is that I wonder.

Long live the 70's!
