CBS Cancels 'The Bridge' After 3 Episodes

CBS Cancels "The Bridge" After 3 Episodes

Everybody, it's time to say goodbye to "The Bridge".

Wait, what do you mean you weren't one of the 2.8 million viewers watching the Canadian import that aired Saturdays on CBS?

Vulture is reporting the low-rated cop drama has gotten the boot from CBS after just three episodes.
Its replacement? Repeats of CBS's canceled crime procedural "Cold Case".

Aaron Douglas, Chief Tyrol to "Battlestar Galactica" fans, headlined "The Bridge", a series about a police union head cleaning up the corrupt force.

Last week's episode was seen by 2.8 million viewers; 426,000 of them were under the age of 50. In TV terms, that's not good. At all.

Reportedly CBS only paid about $500,000 per episode of the CTV series, that's a small amount by industry standards.

Ouch. I guess season two's out the window.

Too bad. I was enjoying it. Netflix has it listed, release unknown. How ironic is it that Cold Case repeats will air instead? One cancelled show filling in for another. Goes to show that network TV still hasn't figured out how to schedule versus cable. Saturday nights. What were they thinking?

Its a damn shame. Finally had a show worth staying home for on Saturday night. I have already sent my "hate" mail to CBS, expressing my feelings about them doing this. I think if they had actually promoted and advertised the show it would have gotten a stronger following. I watch a lot of CBS and can't remember seeing more than one or two commercials for it. CBS killed this show plain and simple. Way to go CBS idiots.

On the plus side, people stateside can download season 2 when CTV broadcasts it.

reply

i don't really remember seeing any promos of it....

nor of flashpoint...

abc is talking about rookie blue all the time...

ok, i don't always get to see abc, and that....but, when i do see it...they are always talking about rookie blue....

Damn! that sucks its one of the better police shows out now. Aaron Douglas is an refreshing change to the genre . No pretty boy , designer suit and $500 sunglasses here! The entire cast put alot of effort into presenting a good show on the episodes I've sen so far. There are 3 CSI shows of which I can only watch 1 most of the time and CBS can't spare the funds for this ? Put it on a better timeslot and then if the ratings don't improve cancel it. Its summer who's home on saturday nights? Will Flashpoint be next?

reply

i really do not trust cbs to show any of our stuff.....look at how long you had to wait to see season three of flashpoint....when i think we're into season four or something like that...

you guys did the same with due south..you showed it for a year..oh we're sorry, too bad.....canada only..

now you're doing the same with the bridge..

nbc and cbs suck at showing the good stuff right now.

abc is continuing on with rookie blue..and all that..continuing on with their other summer stuff....whether or not the gates and scourndrels will be picked up, i don't know, but they are still showing them....not going, oh we don't like it..

so cbs needs to start taking lessons....to keep a show on the air for more then three epies...

i don't doubt that it will be next..yes.....

I agree because there are alot of shows from Canada I would love to see but can't unless they air them global or one of our stations pick them up. I know CBS and NBC are known for not giving the viewers a chance to even give their views of a new show. If they did it would surprise them that people in the US love to see shows from Canada. I was waiting for one certain episode so I coule at least record it but they never aired it. I also wrote in to them as did others to let them know how disappointed we were in the dropping of this show.

The one episode I wanted to see was the The Unguarded Moment because of the actor Rob Stewart in it.

i just love that actor...he's great in everything that he does...even at playing bad, i still tend to like him

right, and if all 2.8 million had been under 50, they would have continued to air it.

again a network killing a show cause not enough teens watch it.

they did the same *beep* to "The Unit" and cancelled that because not enough people under 50 were watching it.
