wipeout and hole in the wall make me feel embarrased to be an american

80% are fat, and all are uncoordinated. can't they find any athletic people that would make this show worth watching?

dumbed down american shows just go for stupid laughs, when really its just sad.

The thing about both are they are based on Japanese shows, which are WAY funnier than the cheap laughs Fox is trying to get. It's like the way Disaster Movie, Epic Movie and meet the Spartans work. People laugh at the original movies, and they THINK that if they say the same exact joke, people will laugh again.

Anyway, Wipeout is clearly a rip off of MXC, which is 100 times funnier and true entertainment. Same with Japans hole in the wall. They have cut outs at the top of the wall so people have to try to just 8 feet. This, people are just stupid that they can't even fit through THESE holes.

Looked in the mirror lately Mr. Perfect? Seems you missed the Sumo wrestlers who did quite well at it. Furthermore coordination has nothing to do with it. All they need to do is find the easiest way thru instead of trying to match the hole shape. Most of the holes can be gotten thru by either lying flat with arms straight ahead or standing straight and going right thru the center. Then there are a couple that require diving thru the largest opening. Actually the midgets could have gotten thru almost all of them by just laying down. I will admit that they don't put the most intelligent people on there. But, FOX is going for laughs more than success. IMO they think goofy people will hold an audience more than people who figure it out.

At one point I heard one of the player mention the rule that whenever they see a circle their head must go through the circle. I am not sure what other rules there are, but there do seem to be a lot of rules that the show never mentions until someone violates one.

I know there are rules but one of them is not that you have to match the shape. Let's face it, can anyone make the shape of the #4?

Well, yes and no.

One of the shapes that they've used a couple of times is a hole that looks like one player standing straight up holding a second player around the waist and that second player is spread eagled. That would seem way too easy and anti-climatic if both players could simply stand one behind the other.

No. Perhaps the rule is that if the shape contains a "head" circle, then you must try to conform to the shape. If there is no "head" circle (like the arrow), then you can do anything you want.

Personally, I dislike the complicated ones since one person will often break the whole panel and disqualify the other player(s).

Yes but that's exactly how I first realized that you didn't have to match the shape. I watched as two people stood one behind the other and went thru.

I'm going to look up the rules and post them if I can find them.

They tell the contestants that if the shape is a humanoid shape, you have to make your best attempt to form that shape, and particularly your head must pass through the head hole. They also state explicitly that you can't just lie down or whatever to get through, their number 1 priority is ENTERTAINMENT and watching someone lie down through the hole is pretty boring. Obviously they've been pretty lax at enforcing these rules, but all the contestants on the first season film before they ever see the show so you'd have no way of knowing this.
