Noah Baumbach???

I was really surprised when the end credits rolled that the screenplay was co-written by Noah Baumbach.

Now I love the guy, and I enjoyed the cartoon movie, but I can't help but wonder why the producers would choose to hire a guy who's mostly written dramas full of litterate references, drugs and sex, to write a children movie?
Does anyone know?
