just saw it here in Austin @ Alamo Drafthouse 7/7 - mild spoilers within

So, I was lucky enough to come across the screening listing and saw it was going to be in Austin July 5-7 and I caught it tonight at the Drafthouse.

It's a fascinating look at how the line between fact and fiction can be blurred, and sometimes there are no easy answers.

If you're going into this wanting definitive answers, don't waste your time. And despite a later brief section that felt out of place as a Blair Witch-style homage to a haunted house thriller, the film is remarkably thought-provoking and completely disturbing.

Whether you believe Rand committed the atrocities he is accused of, or whether it really comes down to people looking for any scapegoat to quell their fears, the reality of what DID happen is horrific and makes you feel very "skeevy" for lack of a better word. The 1970s film footage from Geraldo Rivera's expose of the Willowbrook facility, in particular, is VERY unsettling and hard to watch.

All in all, the film stuck with me long after the credits roll, and I give it an 8/10. If you're a fan of things like Capturing the Friedmans, then you will like this docu-drama.
