Because awards are extremely biased. This is an independent film with no budget to campaign for an Oscar.

Because a lot of people in this country would rather watch a movie abaout a black dude playing football than a Middle eastern woman getting stoned to death (especially in the state of AR where I live). Sandra Bullock's Oscar is ridiculous. I would rather watch her in Speed than listen to her fake southern accent again.

The best screen performance of 2009. She should have won Best Actress.

IMHO, Sandra and Helens nominations should have gone to Shohreh and Charlotte Gainsbourg.
