So, the game sucks ?

It's frustrating and worrying that nothing remotely good has been made for the franchise since Alien 3, with the exception of the original two PC games, Predators and (to a certain extent) AVP Requiem (it DID have good effects and the aliens atleast moved like they weren't guys in rubber suits, unlike AVP it felt like it was really part of the series) and the various comic book series's, but that goes without saying.

But I will say this, for those of you who are dissapointed: An Aliens game simply does not work unless you have a TONNE of work put into the creatures themselves. They have to act differently, they have to be hard to see, when you do see them they have to be unpredictable, they should be able to work together in groups, the environment has to have a suspenseful atmosphere, they have to blend in with the environment (as they did in the first 3 movies).

So it should really not be such a surprise that this game sucked.

The reason this game sucked is because everything you say the game needed was shown in the 2011 E3 gameplay walkthrough. Hence everyone being over-joyed for the game. When it came out....we get a generic run n gun with really stupid AI.

WOW, seriously ? So it actually got downgraded at some point in the production ?

THAT IS JUST DOWNRIGHT TRAGIC.

reply

It's worse than that. The walkthrough was never part of the game. It was manufactured simply to trick people into buying the game.

The game is terrible but then again it was cobbled together in a few months so thats what you get.

Amazing how this game was in development for years, and yet, only afew hours (which probably amount to no more than a month, at most) were PHYSICLY spent on it.

how'd avp requiem feel like it was part of the series to you? it felt even more out of place than the first avp. imo it was more like some crappy run of the mill slasher flick. the strause bros did good special effects, but it seemed like they thought the series was only about making heads explode and little else.

baby can you dig your man?

If I'm going by your last paragraph, then AvP (2010) pretty much nailed it. When they are "coming outta the god damn walls", they really were & not out of some untextured black hole spawn point. Plus the Xeno's actually moved & behaved like they should. I'm not saying Rebellion's game was great, but it got closer to Gearbox's A:CM's "Gameplay Demo" than the actual game that was sold to the public.

And yes, this game sucks harder than a chain smoking whore.

I used to have the Willem Dafoe living under my bed.

You are kinda right, I am almost seeing the AVP 2010 game in a new light after this Colonial Marines piece of crap game out.

The Aliens were too weak and you felt sorry for them in AVP 2010, but this was even more so the case in the colonial marines game. Atleast in AVP 2010 you did have the threat to them.

While AVP 2010 is almost a good game, it is still nowhere near worthy of the series. The aliens are nothing more than dumb animals that attack you and the predator has both his wrist blades out all the time and has two of them and runs with his arms up, there is nothing you can do to change this, and that sucks. Plus the spear/combat stick, well, play the game and you will know.

When that 2010 game got to the end, I could literally have got down on my knees and prayed to the good lord that they will not make a sequel to this game with the Xenomorph homeworld. These are the last bunch of people in the world who should be allowed to handle that.

A figure of speech disturbingly not that far from the truth, cause you bet your ass I hoped it would not have such a sequel, same goes for the Colonial marines F'CK up, may they never touch the Xenomorph homeworld.
