Spoiler if you haven't played the game yet..

Corporal Hicks is discovered still alive and a captive of Weyloun Yutani mercs on LV-425. You eventually free him and he'll fight along you side by side in the latter half of the game to takedown the xenomorphs and mercs.

As stupid as is was to kill the character off during the first minutes of Alien 3.. it's even stupider to bring him back like this. If they had been smart, they would've used Hudson in that role, since:

1. We don't actually see him getting killed (though it's heavily implied)

2. And people have been making up fan-fic on Hudson's supposed "survival" for years.

Oh, and BTW:

It's "Weyland Yutani" and "LV-426"

I dunno. The highlight of the game for me was that they brought him back. As weak as it was.

reply

I hate to break the bad news and I love him as much or maybe more than the rest of the marines, but you can find the body of Hudson dead and cocoon in the opening half of the sewer level.

reply

Not really, the only stupid thing was to have killed him off in the first place, particularly in the cold manner it was done. Despite the game's many flaws his character's continuation is actually very well done and quite clever. Bringing back Hudson wouldn't have worked and I think in the series' story would not have worked.

The story of aliens is always about salvaging something good out of a horror, I guess this time it was Hicks' turn!

If impersonating a Police Officer is an offence, shouldn't actors be imprisoned?

reply

Except that the way Hicks was brought back makes no sense and doesn't work with the short from Aliens and Alien 3. Fury 161 had no technology, they didn't ID Hicks from the flight recorder, they IDed him from his dog tags. That's the whole reason soldiers wear them. Did the guy Hicks chucked into his cryotube have his dog tags? Did he also strip down to Hick's underwear, which would have had Hick name stenciled into the back?

Of course this isn't even as big a problem as the colony on LV-426 disappearing in a dust cloud the size of Nebraska IN THE MOVIE and then miraculously being 100% intact in this game. Why would you go to all the trouble of doing that, then show Hudson's dead body? Hudson and Apone are the marines that you could have brought back. Neither of them are killed on screen in Aliens, we know that they would have been cocooned for implantation, but considering the massive explosions and everything else going on, its possible they could have found a way to escape.

Did you not play Stasis Interupted? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guXTnqP9eyI

You gotta stay in your seats until the Sulaco reaches the terminal!

reply

yeah I played through it. But the OP was very incoherent.

reply

What? You wanted Hicks and Newt to survive in the third movie? Well guess what, you're supposed to. This is a horror series, people die and you get sad, that's the whole point!

reply

Yes, the entire point of Alien3 was that she woke up *alone* on the planet.

Too bad Biehn gives the most bored-sounding performance since Harrison Ford recorded the Blade Runner voice-over.
