You people make me sick...

From one big Alien fan to all of you, it makes me sick that not one of you has anything good to say about the game. Out of all the Alien and Predator games, this one and Predator: Concrete Jungle are the best by far. All this complaining about graphics and it being short, ect is just B.S. You all just had way too high of expectations. Being an Alien fan I had great fun with this game, and it has high replay value for me. When you compare this game to all the other Alien games it is the best, and I hope that they make another one. And possibly a new Predator game.

It's people like you that allow companies to get away with releasing garbage like this. Outside of the novelty of exploring iconic locations from the films, this has nothing of note to offer. It's a glitchy, unfinished mess of a game. At times it looks like an old ps2 game, your squadmates stand & shoot at walls, run off without you & generally act like they've had too much to drink, the Aliens offer little threat & can be melee'd to death, the story is laughably bad, the end fight & ending is a huuuge anticlimax.

They released a 'gameplay demo' video about a year ago, showing a proper Aliens game as it should be done. It looked amazing, like the game we'd all been waiting for. None of it was in this final game.

I must've gotten the ONLY good version then, because everything looks great, works great, everything is great on my version. Mine has no glitches, the lighting of the game looks awesome, who cares about the graphics looking like a GAME instead of a movie? Look at the DOOM game, the graphics are *beep* and yet people still play the hell out it. The story was good, I wouldn't really call it canon to the movies because of Hicks, but it's still a good story for a GAME. In your face, my teammates actually shoot at what needs to be shot at, so when I am low on health, I lay low, and they kill majority if not all the enemies. The final boss may have been a little anticlimatic BUT it was still hard to beat and you had to take your time. It really is a shame that I seem to be the only one who got a good version of the game, I'd laugh if it wasn't so sad. .....What the heck, I'll laugh anyway. lol

At times, it actually does look decent & things work as they should. Then you turn a corner & it looks like a 2005 360 game, a bunch of Aliens stumble mindlessly into your line of fire & the whole thing falls apart again. It just isn't good enough for a game that's supposedly had 6 years spent on it. The best part for me was the landing on LV-426 & the initial exploration of Hadley's Hope. It actually has a bit of atmosphere & reminded me a lot of the film. It's just an illusion though, the game world is extremely flat, there's no physics on anything & nothing responds to your presence except enemies. Chairs, monitors, coffee cups etc. are all glued down & don't react to anything. It's just a lifeless shell, & that just doesn't cut it anymore.

You mentioned Doom, & that's actually a decent comparison. That game is 10 years old yet it runs better, has more atmosphere & looks better at times than this. The gameplay itself is pretty much identical. Fetch quests with enemies that run straight at you every so often. It's just not good enough for 2013.

I fired up Dead Space 3 after i'd finished Aliens, & found myself wishing EA had bought the Aliens licence instead of Sega. There's a game with atmosphere, scares, panicky encounters, a sense of place, decent voice acting, top notch visuals with beautiful lighting & shadows... and they've managed to release 3 of them in the time it's taken Gearbox to crap this out.

I'm glad you like it, i just wish i could.

We were so wrong...

Back when this game was announced as a PS2 title, EA had the rights for it but cancelled it. Randy Pitchford has denied that it's the same game but trust me, the plot as outlined all those years ago was identical.

Well dude, I don't think it's as bad as everyone is making it out to be. However, I can also understand their disappointment. This game has been in the making for so long and all the trailers and promotions were very much misrepresenting the actual product. People feel cheated and lied to and I don't blame them.
However, I still enjoy this game for what it is...an Aliens game. But it is a far cry from what the majority of us were expecting.

I hope they make another one too...and it's not just shat out in order to avoid a lawsuit. I hope they take the time, respect the source material and give us what we were expecting the first time around.

More Aliens games, Predator games and AvP games will always be welcome in my house, but I can't help but die inside a little every time they don't put the effort in.

So I think it's a little extreme you being so disgusted with the majority of people being disappointed in a game. I'd say you're either in denial or just don't play many games in order to compare this one to anything.

I have lukewarm first impressions although it's quite intense at times and makes me want to revisit the 1986 movie. But it feels like a dated subpar shooter for the most part that has very little to offer.
