Does anyone have more info on what eminem said about not sleeping for 3 weeks straight and just watching tv. He also said he had to relearn motor functions and how to talk all over again. Wtf was that about? It might explain his career lately.

He was up on various illicit stimulants for 3 weeks and ended up having a transient ischemic attack, that's why he didn't produce any music for a while.
He's now sworn off drugs apparently, but I'm sure he'll start using again in the near future because like many artists he uses drugs to fuel the creative process.

You obviously don't know much about Eminem then. The majority of his albums (the best ones) were created when he was off of drugs. He never used them to fuel his creative process because when he was a heavy user he was either not making music or releasing albums that flopped badly.
Oh and also what makes you think that he was up on 'various illicit stimulants'? He never said that. Eminem was addicted to downers, not uppers. In the documentary he says that once he stopped taking downers (benzos, opioids, Ambien, Valium etc.) he was up for three weeks straight.
I assume it has something to do with being reliant on downers to sleep, his sober body became a natural stimulant because he was so used to being slowed down.
I agree with jakeownz. In his interviews, Eminem's said that music has always been his drug, but over recent years he started resorting to a lot pills and alcohol to deal with *beep* happening in his life (Being sued by family, Proof dying, etc), and he lost his creative edge because of that. He also felt music was no longer getting him high.
After rehab, he says he's back on track and is again ENJOYING making music. This is why I'm sure his next album (to be released sometime this summer, 2013) is gonna be freaking awesome!
actually his best albums were definitely under the influence. listen from the infinite ep to the marshall mathers album that was the greatest lyrical contribution eminem made to music. that is of course unless your one of the dick riders liking his new pop crap. lets put it into context, at age 15 eminem was a role model to me, at 26 i dont even rate him as a decent rapper and almost despise what the music industry did to him and how he embraced it. he hasalways been on drugs the 'rehab; or whatever album was just a gimmick you really think a drug addict stops just to make an album , i could write better abd clever rhyme schemes and bars than he puts out now ,who cares long live the slim shady
shareI don't know, The slim shady LP put him in the lime light but the "dick riders" seemed to really come onboard after The real slim shady dropped.
He was always a recreational user, but it was more casual from his own account.
After Proofs death he went off the rails and then produced Relapse which was the biggest piece of *beep* which focused less on skill and more on tired jokes.
I don't think he could have gotten back to where he is musically (not his best, but better) and personally had he not gotten sober, hopefully for good. Unfortunately that probably means he'll have to lay off the drugs and alcohol for good lest he risk relapse but we'll see.
For the record, I think it's cool to say his first albums are the best. And whilst they were revolutionary and are better than most rappers top album I think he perfected his skill and story telling ability for the Eminem show (I know dick rider right?!). Listen to it. That was around the same time that he did 8 Mile and the first D12 album which all featured top notch work from Em and not to forget probably his best lyrical effort Jay-Z's Renegade.
3 weeks awake - I agree that he is probably saying he was coming up off of drugs that he required to sleep, though 3 weeks doesn't sound possible if it is he paid for it.

i have to call BS on that. two weeks with a lot of stimulants, MAYBE...three weeks, his brain would have shut down. he may have FELT like it was three weeks, but that's something different.
shareWell you are kinda right. And I only know this because I did some study on records for staying up, with no sleep.
Apparently your brain is able to shut down very shortly and also without you actually notice. Acting as you describe, putting you to sleep if only for 1 sec. But as I understood the research it's very fast and short, but enough.
Today they no longer track records for staying up, be cause you would have to track the subjects active brain waves, to prove the subject was awake. And also there is health risk involved. But I do remember there were many staying up for two weeks straight, or I should say "claimed" as again there were no real way to prove, the brain was active the whole two weeks.

Eminem was on high doses of benzodiazepines. (drugs such as xanax, valium, klonopin, and ativan) While most people can get off these drugs without much of a problem, about 10 to 20% of people end up with severe withdrawal effects, often lasting for several months after stopping the drugs, which often includes weeks of not "sleeping". The brain takes micronaps often lasting less than a few seconds, which keeps the person alive. Often, the person is not even aware that this is happening. It wreaks havoc on every system in your body, and is absolute hell. Sometimes, this can happen even when people take benzodiazepines for a short time (just a few months). Again, most people do not have these problems getting off benzos, but for those who do, life is a living hell!
