Norm was hilarious. He was telling corny-ass jokes on purpose. The jokes are so bad they're funny. Also, it's funny to see the audience frown and not get it. Did you not see the other roast members cracking up?
Regarding SNL, Norm was hilarious on weekend update. He was only fired because NBC executive Don Ohlmeyer didn't get Norm's humor. They replaced Norm with Colin Quinn, and it was THEN that the show went down the tubes for awhile.

About halfway through, Saget started laughing uncontrollably because he realized Norm was saying the worst roast jokes in history with such absence of comedic timing. I thought it was hillarious. He's just an average comic with no particularly outstanding talent for comedy. All the bad jokes he did in that routine aren't far-removed from the horrible jokes he does in his regular comedy act.
I've seen them on youtube. His stand-up act is full of dry, trite, boring observations about how sitting in the backseat of a car during a long trip alienates you from the folks in the front seat of the car, or how sometimes you wake up during a good dream and then you try to go back to sleep to re-enter the dream, you know, dumb, retarded stuff that I've seen tons of other comics do. Nothing unique, nothing that stands out, yet these morons worship Norm like he's some Hicks-level genius.

I agree with davidsco27. Why does everyone here claim they are the only one who gets Norm's jokes? Does that make you special? No. Of course not. Just because his humor may be hard for some to wrap their heads around, does not mean that he's funny. Is it just me, or did everyone else also see that NO ONE in the audience laughed. The other comedians fake-laughed through it, like they got what Norm was trying to do because his timing was way off and I refuse to believe that could provoke any kind of actual laughter.
