Relationships

The funny thing is that the day I watched this movie I read an article by a psychologist on ''how cinema destroyed our love life''. It was about how we are all accustomed to these cliches around love and relationships that have little foundation in reality. He was especially harsh on the misguided idea of people who are meant to be together and end up happily together after many hardships.

It's what I feel about this movie. There's something wrong with the idea of two people who make a rational choice to seperate, one that grants them both freedom in their lives. Yet, instead of cherishing this, they become unhappy and lose themselves in their longing. If there is anything I personally found out in my occasional dealings with love, it's that when the longing becomes more important than the reality of your situation, it seldom results in a happy relationship.
