Shall we Say its 'Dil Chahta Hai' Part 2

Having seen the movie, which is in the genre of New Age romantic movies, I personally feel that this could be considered to be Dil Chahta Hai part 2. Others are welcome to offer their two bits regarding my observation.

No. Plain and simple No. DCH is a cult classic, a masterpiece which changed the way of filmmaking for many. LAK, is in no way, a classic.

No, Love Aaj Kal is nothing compared to DCH, DCH is a masterpiece.

DCH is not "just" a new age romantic movie .. it explores friendships and love in a way which no other bollywood film has managed to do yet. No way can you compare LAK with DCH. Different leagues altogether.

First of all, bollywood don't know what a genre is. This movie and the characters reminded of Jab We Met, Salam Namaste, Bachna Ae Haseeno and other crappy bollywood movies about trying to make look like indian culture is more now like the western one. Pure crap cinema!

reply

Shangar, get a life! Indian culture (youth) is like this only. Go to big cities and you will see.

And no, it's not DCH. Both are two different movies.

I won't say anything about LAK, but DCH was a very mature film on relationships, friendship to love. And that too in a far realistic manner. LAK is just an entertainer or not, depends on who's watching.

The core of LAK is rooted in bringing awareness to people about how despite brecking up, people may still have feelings for each other. For some individuals the same level of enjoyment can not always be shared with somebody else.

I don't see any paralleslism between the story in DCH (mainly about 3 friends and how love and life will affect their relationship) and LAK (about a couple trying to figure out what their relationship is).

By the way, I don't see why so many people call DCH cult. I love Aamir Khan , Preity Zinta and I like Saif Ali Khan , I liked the story in DCH, it was ok, had *some* originality, but was also very common and predictable on some points (Aamir/Preity etc.). Some people may love it, but this has nothing of a classic.

LAK made me think of Hum Tum: a couple and how they evolve as the years go by.

But LAK is much more modern and credible when it come to evoking commitmentless relationships, long distance relationships, remaining friends after the break... Problems met by a lot of couple nowadays.

If you can call this movie a sequel of Dil Chahta Hai, then you can call any movie a sequel of Dil Chahta Hai. There is no similarity between the two, except they both have Saif Khan in them.

The op is referring to the 'breaking up' element. This is the common factor between the two movies. Both Deepika and Priety are to be married but have feelings get in their way. There is also the long distance relationship angle that is present in bot movies.
