Looks too generic for such good talent

Having just seen the trailer, I'm not surprised Cage is involved in yet another cheap action thriller.
Only this has more reasons not to be a cheap action thriller.

It's written and directed by Paul Schrader, who isn't a newbie.
Nicolas Cage and Anton Yelchin are both good performers with proper direction.
Nicholas Winding Refn is producing it.

All this talent involved, yet the trailer makes it look cheap, with unimpressive cinematography, music, cliché-suspense and the "mentally-ill agent" plot that feels like
borrowed from the tv-series "Homeland".

While it's not fair to criticise the story before seeing the film, I can only hope that the trailer is the only thing badly-made here. It makes the movie look like a cheap DTV Steven Seagal/Val Kilmer/Christian Slater/Wesley Snipes film.

Perhaps they had issues finding a budget, because I don't see any big name distribuitor for it neither.

What do you think?

yup, trailer feels a lot like "been there, done that", but I like Cage and will rent the DVD.

Totally agree. It's like Nicholas Cage is now a bargain bin Bruce Willis. I really used to like this guy in action mode, but he's fallen a long way from guilty pleasures like The Rock and Con Air.

Yeah, in retrospect, Bruce Willis himself is a long way from the classic Die Hards, Last Boy Scout, etc.

Looks like an episode of Homeland

have to agree it is generic and cliche

The only good thing about this film was the "eye scream".(search TV Tropes)

Also, what the fizzuk is up with everybody using digital gunshots now? and CGI bullet wounds, I miss squibs.

How about instead of just talking about a trailer you comment on the actual movie? It was a well done movie that touched on the subject of dementia which is becoming more common in our society. Cage played his part well and the two part ending to this was well played out. I would easily recommend this to others to watch.

Yeah.

From his speech near the beginning, to his affliction, to how Milt was played, to that 'two-part' ending...I didn't see it as yet another cheap action thriller yawnfest. I found it quite watchable ~
