BRING IT BACK

I realize that they pulled RENT from the Nederlander Theater because of slipping ticket sales, but I really wish, in the next 5 years, that they'd bring this back onto Broadway. I was able to see it in July 2008 in NYC (and wrote on the wall which you can see on the DVD feature, THE WALL), but I was heart broken to find out that they were shutting it down. I find this story to be very powerful.

i don't know if it is just a rumour but apparently, they're reopening it off-Broadway later this year. If you go to musicals.net, and go to the 'Rent' forum, there's a topic about it.

also, Rent was on in London a few years back, but it closed pretty quickly (and the actual production was AWFUL!)

they updated it and re-orchestrated it for synthesisers and other "techno" instruments. they messed around with the story a bit, (putting Over the Moon as the start of Act Two) and gave 3 of the main characters (i think it was Mark, Collins and Mimi) English accents. Basically they tried to turn it into something it wasn't and it just fell flat on its face. BTW if you're interested, it ran from 27 October 2007 to 2 February 2008
