Why didn't Stigman wink at the black girl in the diner? It can only be either of the reasons below;
a) He is racist and only winks at white girls
or
b) He had some kinda fling and might even have slept with her before which is probably why she knows his name pretty well even though he is not seen introducing himself to her.

I took it as the girl was the girlfriend of the guy with the hook so stig didn't want to disrespect his friend by winking at his girl .
shareI also came to this conclusion. She was obviously either an old friend (less likely because she doesn't show that she knows him, though it might be an act for the benefit of Washington) or the girlfriend of an old friend.
shareHe has a past history with this lady and the hook guy, so winking at her would not have the same meaning that it would with a waitress he just met.
If he winks he is a womanizer disrespecting women and treating a colored girl like a slut.
If he doesn't wink he is racist.
