Love the show, but set up. Every employee there the day she arrives

There is no way a place would have every employee working there the same day.

I've always thought it was a bit like Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. A few salons are told they might be chosen, so have all your staff there for a few days, cameras are let in and then she shows up.

dork,
what would be the point in her coming if all the employees weren't there?
she needs to work with the entire staff.

Dork refers to the OP user id. Calm down and read things thoroughly before you go on a rampage. Jeez

How would she have the "secret footage" if it wasn't set up ahead of time?

I hope you're not surprised by why you just posted because that's how all reality shows work.

And, even when she "surprises" them when she comes back, how are we hearing them so clearly? They have a wireless mic on.

Now, I know they have to set up the shots and audio, just don't fake the surprise. We're lazy TV viewers, but we're not stupid.

What's funny about that is that it's already been stated by some of the salons that she has gone in, that for bigger salons, only about half of the salon's employees actually get to be on the show. They pick the ones who will make the best drama for TV.

That being said, as a hairstylist I can tell you, most salons are not open 7 days a week, most are closed Sundays and Mondays (save for chains like Supercuts, etc), so it would be normal for any stylist working full time to be there every day that the salon is open, since they would only be open 5 days a week.

Then again, I live in Canada so maybe it's different in the States?

Reality shows have to set things up before hand. They have a camera crew and sound people to consider. Everyone in the salons have to know Tabatha's going to show up, but they can fool them as of when she'll show up.

There's also safety and security issues, they need to know what kind of neighborhood they're in and what type of people they're going to encounter. Also not everyone at work and not every customer wants to be on camera. Since some salons and places have little or no customers, they have to arrange for that as well.

It doesn't bother me because I don't watch to see type "surprise element". I watch to see how the salon and employees attitudes are transformed and whether Tabatha's efforts are successful or not.
