Why do they change these movie titles?

reply

I don't know why they do, but they ought to be changing the genre to "comedy". This thing is soooooo bad it's funny!

Tell me how this movie is Bad! This movie gives you good idea What "Will" Happen pretty happen on 12/21/2012. Even the part when the president refuses to release information about which is standard & fact

Time for your pills, Professor.

Geeze, where do I start.

1) Comets don't have magnetic fields. They are made of ice, not metal.

2) A chunk falling off of a comet and hitting the earth would not cause the magnetic field to change.

3) Magnetic fields changing would not cause earthquakes and huge holes opening up on the surface. They would also not cause EMPs.

4) The EMPs shown would be moving at the speed of light. You wouldn't see them coming.

5) An EMP would fry electronics whether they were turned on or not.

6) An EMP would not cause electronics to explode and fry people. They would just fail to work, again, no matter if they were turned on or off.

7) The special effects in the film were awful! I especially liked the fact that only the roads cracked and not the grass on either side of the roads where the actors could stand in total safety.

8) Don't you think that someone other than the main character would notice that the sun was off by 10 degrees? He seems to be the only one in spite of the fact that dozens of instruments and solar observatories are dedicated to watching the sun for activity.

9) It uses the old standby of using nuclear weapons to solve any problem with the earth that pops up. A couple of 50 megaton bombs would have as much effect on the earth as a mosquito bite would have on an elephant.

10) I learned through this film that two men can lift a 50 megaton nuclear bomb into the back of an army truck by themselves.

11) I also learned that a starter motor from a new Jeep SUV will fit and work in a diesel army truck designed in the 40's or 50's.

That's just the few things I can think of off the top of my head in the last couple of minutes. I'm sure there are a dozen more. I'm also sure that the title was changed out of embarrassment.

Hey just be glad it wasn't your fault the poles reversed because you drive a car and use electricity.

My main problem was the fact that 4 people were deciding the fate of the world. I was so tired when I was watching it that it didn't occur to me until half way through that two scientists, an army general, and the President of the U.S. were qualified to make these decisions. Yes, that main scientist guy consulted with his team, but come on. There would be people working around the globe on this. Why was it totally on the back of the U.S.? I hope this doesn't happen since apparently nobody likes Americans enough to help us save the entire planet. What was everyone else in the world doing? Waiting to see what we did? This movie was laughable, I wish I could've starred in it and made some extra cash, how easy it must have been to deliver that dialogue.

Yeah, I just recently watched this movie, while somewhat entertaining (you usually don't see movies with this kind of plot every now and then), it was riddled with plot holes.

Aside from what another poster mentioned, the whole "shut the car off" and it will be ok was just hilarious. Excluding the fact that an EMP can still damage electronics that are off, when a car is off, there is still a constant 12V running out of the battery to some electronics (why most radio presets don't "disappear" when your car shuts off), not to mention the fact that the EMP would have fried any Car computer, which among other things, controls the engine, fuel injection, etc.

But, aside from that - the B52 blowing up in mid air due to an EMP? Come on, those things have been shielded against EMP for ages, the same thing with any submarine.

And, the finale - a submarine diving to ~10,000 meters , modern day submarines have a crush depth of roughly ~900 meters, tops.

Like I said - plenty of plot holes (and quite predictable), but still entertaining!
