Filmmakers must think we are stupid

At the beginning of the movie, Jack Coleman and his associate are trying to get away from the blast effects. They are attempting to reach a concrete bunker. Fine, but with the blast right on their tail where does he park? About 60 yards away from the entrance so they have to run for it and his associate decides to take the time to stop and bring equipment with him, just as the blast is about to overtake them. Of course the associate doesn't make it. It may make for great drama, but come on would that really happen? In real life I would have parked as close to the bunker as I could to have extra time to get in the bunker and get out of the vehicle right away, screw anything left in the vehicle.

Later they pick up the nukes to take to the sub and Jack Coleman's character and his dad escort the truck. An EMP is about to overtake them so Jack Coleman said to pull over and shut off the engine and then says he hopes the truck driver remembers to do so as well. But where is the truck they were supposedly escorting? Only a mile or two behind them. Seeing that you know what is going to happen to the soldiers in the truck. Coleman's character knew that those nukes were man's last hope, yet didn't bother to ensure the safety of them at all times?

In the sub, Coleman's character is sitting in a nice comfy chair in a rather large control compartment. C'mon, this is a Cold War era Russian diesel powered sub which were famous for cramped quarters and only the bare necessities for crew. This sub looked like a cruise ship inside, lol. Wouldn't a little realism have added more drama to the scene?

I am really tired of movies which insult our intelligence for the sake of "drama"

Hey, it's a Syfy channel thing. You can only expect so much from them.
