Best x-men movie ever!

This is the best x-men movie ever made!
Not only it got the base elements of x-men correctly (the story focuses on their main theme: being better than humans, and how to apply that superiority- and we see the many different ways each character solves this riddle). But it's also a well done movie on its own merits, even if you don't care about their comics.
Above all, it handles the comic book tropes in a very accessible way, thus making everything more realistic and believable. It takes its time to give us their pov and backstory. Because of this, it's easy to sympathize with every single x-men on screen, good or bad.

None of the Singer directed ones comes close to this: he put together only big comic book moments and big (but boring) action, but the character developement is nonexistant: to convince us to be on their side, he constantly and relentlessly preaches about the beauty of being different (ok, we get it Bryan...) that by the end I'm rooting for the humans.

I wish there was a real sequel to this movie and see what happens to Magneto at the beginning of the Brotherhood. That could have been the title: X-men Brotherhood.
But no, we had to go back in time...that's a fresh idea....not!

Yeah, this is a great movie even if you don't know anything about the X-men, and don't watch superhero movies.

reply

Yes, it is.
It is good for anybody, my gf who cannot stand superhero movies liked this one. It has something special that makes it relatable.

I agree that we should have got a First Class sequel. I liked Days of Future Past but it should have been a 3rd or 4th movie instead of a sequel.

Yep.
They couldn't wait to ge Singer's cast back.
This cast instead deserved better and more.
