No longer R-rated

Calling it now.

It's a feeling I get from the trailers.

My instincts are 90% right when it comes to predicting these things.

I thought the whole point of removing Venom from Spider-Man was because they wanted an r-rated horror movie. If they drop it down to a PG-13, this bad idea can only get worse.

reply

How could they just drop down the rating if the movie has already been shot? If that was to be the case, they would have been lying to audiences then, right?

reply

It's not unheard of for a movie to change its rating before release. I'm not saying it will happen with Venom for sure, but it could happen.

reply

Shooting footage is only one aspect of the entire production.
Effects and editing can make or break a rating by including or excluding certain scenes or shots, making certain effects more graphic, etc.

reply

Why does it matter? A good film is a good film. It's not like this has to be rated R to be worth watching, or an R rating guarantees quality. As long as they give us a great movie, it can be G for all I care.

reply

True. But the R rating made Logan sooo much better.

reply

Blood and guts doesn't make a movie better. Citizen Kane is a PG rated movie, more or less. Is that a worse movie, than your average Saw sequel?

reply

Then why not a G-rated Venom movie? Since rating doesn't affect quality apparently.

An R-rated Citizen Kane would still be a great film.

A G-rated Saw movie would NOT be even watchable.

FACTS.

reply

You seem to be under the impression that there are only two ratings.

reply

And we have a flop

reply

As much as I would be pleased with this being a good film no matter its rating, the thought of seeing Venom being as vicious as he can be - spilling lots of blood and stuff - is exciting.

But at the end of the day, I wouldn’t care if it’s PG-13. If it’s great and can somehow still catch the right tone for Venom, then that’s all that counts for me. And though you may be right, the R rating still isn’t out of the question.

reply

I guess from my standpoint it's not necessary the graphic nature of rating ( R= Blood and Gore), But the content. R rated movies are typically aimed at adult audiences(Alien Terminator) and have more interesting subjects, themes, and dialogue. While PG-13 has a family or teenage agenda and has to appeal to a larger audience.

reply

Logan = R (biggest grossing Wolverine movie)
Deadpool = R (biggest grossing XMen movie)

you think they wanna go PG13 for Venom?

reply

Yea what's next? A PG-13 Carnage? Dumbest move and an absolute flop

reply

If it´s PG13 i won´t see it.

reply

such BS, you would think that after the success of Deadpool and Logan Sony would have the balls to keep it R.
