What Universe will it be set in?

What universe will this be set in, will this be the Marvel Cinematic Universes Venom? Or will this be it's own film in it's own continuity.

I was discussing this with a friend, and I said it should be set in the Amazing Spider-Man universe, and bring back Andrew Garfield to wrap up his story line... You wouldn't even need to make Spidey a main character in the Venom movie, just a supporting character.


On the side note, if there was ever a Spider-Bat comic, where Spider-Man and Batman fused together, I always felt that Bane and Venom would be the two characters that would go together... So, it's only fitting that the one actor play both roles.
