Despite the 100 Things thread, I LOVED THIS MOVIE :-)

I'm just going to say it, I loved this movie and thought it was a great tribute to the original (yes, I saw that one!) and to all the old scary illustrated classics of Machen and company. The production was wonderful--loved the big, spooky house and all of the beautiful wood carvings. The backstory was the best part, of course, and the family was maddeningly stupid, but even so, this was pretty scary imagining a 9 year old experiencing such trauma!

I was also curious about the pact between the Church and this ancient race, and how mankind was able to forget and convince itself such things don't exist. I would love a prequel set in the era of Blackwood, but given all the mixed reviews, that is certainly doubtful to ever come to pass. I think the design for the tooth fairies was well done and as were the subtle hints of magic. More movies like this--I enjoy movies when our contemporary world is forced to cross paths with the ancient past.
