SPOILER Noreen

SPOILERS BELOW ABOUT THE PLOT AND ENDING

So, once Noreen kills Smith and leaves the diner with the cash, do you think she gets away with it? The only people that know about the cash are dead. I'm assuming she left town or the country and enjoyed the money in Mexico or somewhere else.

It would be interesting to see how the local police or possibly the FBI puts together the incidents of that night. Do you think Smith's associates would even bother trying to track down Noreen since Smith wasn't the only one killed? Plus, Smith's "family" doesn't even know if money was ever delivered nor would they really know (or probably care) who really killed Smith.

Even though Noreen left prints on the knife and the gun would the police or FBI look for her? As far as they know, she killed Doe (from the prints on the world's sharpest steak knife) flipped out in shock and disappeared from town.

reply

They'd look for her, because she's the only living witness to what happened. She'd probably get away with it, though, since the only person she killed had murdered a family of four recently.

Sometimes I could kiss your mind, Roy.

reply

If she's tough enough to stand up to Smith she's probably smart enough to get away with it.

Yeah, I had the same thoughts...was wondering why she wouldn't wipe her prints off of the knife/gun and place them in the hands of the victims, so the cops would assume they killed each other.

I also thought she would exchange outfits with the young girl before leaving with the money...to make the cops think the other chick was the waitress and give her a head start to leave the country.

Up until the very end, I really thought Noreen and Madsen's character were going to be in on it together...especially when she tells Smith that her husband wouldn't come looking for her. Would've made for an interesting twist!

even the local police would have noticed that no waitress was in the diner with the bodies and would immediately look for her. i like the idea of changing clothes with the blonde, except EVERYONE knows she didnt work there.

the obvious move would be to clean the knife and gun, place it in others hands - although that would take some thought as to the progression - and then head home and claim ignorance. she showed some strength of character in killing smith. afterward, claim this was all too stressful and leave...with the hidden money.

...make a deal, you know, a deal...maybe he's a republican

I think the waitress could have hidden the money and called the police. Her story could easily have been that Madsen killed the salesman/Smith like everyone else, and that she had snuck up and then killed him, in self defense with the knife. Then grabbed his dropped gun, not sure he was dieing/dead. It would have all tied up nicely, because Madsen's character was obviously just an unhinged psycho. There shouldn't have been anything else for her to explain; odds are that Smith hadn't left any evidence after killing the farmer and his family. The only possible loose end is why was the businessman/Green there...but he could have just been explained away as another customer who had stopped by at the wrong time. I think the police would have been content Madsen was just a psycho who had killed everyone, except the waitress who had gotten lucky. There shouldn't have been any reason to look for a missing suitcase full of money.

You are right, hiding the money and calling the police would clean it up enough for everyone to consider it closed; she would not even have to wipe her fingerprints off the pistol. Running leaves too many questions unanswered. Good call.
