My problem with this movie

Okay, I will say right off the bat that I enjoyed this movie. I liked the fact that (aside for the beginning) there was no CGI and all of the effects were practical and the sets (if you can call a desert a set) were shot on real locations. However, despite all of these attributes all of the references towards other movies was a bit distracting. I wish it would have just been a stand alone film that didn't reference or tie into any other pre-existing movie franchises. I think the movie would be a whole lot better with all of the references edited out.

All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.
