I'm sure if the kid was gay they'd throw him our or throw an anti-prom

I'm sure if the kid feeling down was gay the "christian" would most likely pickett the school to expell the homosexual, or throw an invite only prom to exclude the gays (this does actually happen, and with race as well).

So much "love".

A Christian would want what God wants for us all. To repent from a life filled with sin and to accept Christ as Lord and Savior. To respond to the One who loved us first and created everything.

Can you fly this plane?
Surely you can't be serious.
I am serious, but don't call me Shirley

reply

We can only hope and pray that 'christians' will come to accept us and our 'sins' one day.

I still enjoyed the movie - would love to shag the lead guy.

reply

Somehow I doubt it. I actually wish the film had taken on homosexuality, as I have a feeling it would take a different approach than most other Christian films would.

reply

Yeah, just stereotype us all; that really solves the problem, doesn't it?

Never insult seven people when you're only packing a six-shooter.

In the politically correct climate of today I'd doubt it, especially in southern California

Hopefully, one day people of all beliefs will wake up and realize that God is a myth.

You're wrong. Only an idiotic group of Christians would do that.

If you've ever been to a church, you will know that the christians there are no more innocent them the rest of the people. We have people who were previously sluts, drug addicts, homos and even witches. There's no reason for a homo to be treated so badly, we don't want to shove our religion down someone's throat.

I draw the line at homos. I have no desire to associate with witches! Have you even seen The Wizard of Oz? Disgusting!

In all seriousness, your comment is such a great example of Christian "thinking" that I've saved it to my hard drive for future laughs. Thanks!

Dude, did you even watch this movie?!?

I know that there are some crazy people who act like you say under the cover of 'christianity', but that is not the core of christianity, or the core of this movie. I am sure anyone would agree with me that the Jake Taylor we see in this film would not pickett the school to expell the homosexual, but would rather welcome him to join him at lunch as he does with the suicidal loner and other people on the margins. Jake says of Jonny, "They wouldn't let him in because he wasn't cool enough. How messed up is that?" That does not sound like the sort of person who would pickett the school and discriminate against homosexuality.

This film is about treating people with love, accepting them as they are and not condemning them for being 'outsiders'. This is the true message of Christianity, which is often overshadowed by the less key, more political issues, such as whether or not homosexuality is acceptable. I am not condemning or condoning homosexuality, and choose to love people despite their sins, whether this is lying or stealing or, as some say is sin, homosexuality. Whether or not it is a sin is up to God, not us humans, our job is just to love people as they are, which was Jesus' message, and the message of this film, which Jake Taylor exemplifies perfectly.

Please don't judge all Christians and this film based on some who have been more vocal in their opinions. To be honest, I don't know why there is even a discussion on this film about homosexuality, as this film has nothing to do with homosexuality, and it just brings down this wonderful, uplifting film to drgrade it with issues not even relevant to it. It sounds like you've been hurt by Christians in the past, and if so I apologise on our behalf, but for most Christians, your sexual orientation has nothing to do with, us, and is not something for us to judge.

Sorry, for the essay btw ;) I hope you got as much inspiration from this fim as I did.

bayla_rox of course that is the core of christianity!
