Have a gift worth a trillion $ - Hey, i'll join a rock band
That silly idea is what ruined this movie for me.
Car crashes mean car sales - GM loves speeders and DUIs and other highway criminals.

Any society that would give up liberty to gain security will deserve neither and lose both.
Actually, that idea didn't ruin it for me at all. He was disillusioned by the priest, and he wanted to stick it to him. He was bitter and angry because he could heal others, while he remained a paraplegic. He felt lost and had nowhere to go. Also, he clearly loved being a DJ, and it was the one job that he really knew how to do. I don't think he was in a place to have a clear plan of what to do with his gift at that point.

What's the rumpus?--Miller's Crossing
I found it very realistic. People who are in situations as he was often fall into or continue into making rash and illogical decisions, and I also found to be part of the whole premise to this movie.
shareIt kind of ruined it for me as well. A true healer as a gimmick for a rock band? The movie lost some points in my estimation.
