Couldn't watch it!

Chris is so annoying and such a terrible actor that he distracting. Nice try but they dropped the ball.

Your post is so useless and has such terrible comments that I cannot help but laugh once again tonight after enjoying the first two parts. Nice try, but who are "they"? Chris is an exec producer and a talented, funny actor, so who exactly "dropped" what "ball"? What does that even mean? It's IFC, did you expect Sundance or Dreamworks? This is great Indie work, IMHO.

Agreed, miscast for this role.

I never really liked Chris Kattan (except for some SNL stuff) but he's great in this. This show really surprised me.

I loved Chris Kattan in SNL and never liked him in this.

I don't know why, I just couldn't get into it. It wasn't a funny enough show to be a comedy or well acted enough to be a drama. It didn't move me either way.

I should note I liked the first episode, the second was ok and the 3rd, I was fast forwarding to the end.

I have no history of watching Chris Kattan and remember him as only one of the Roxbury guys because of that Jim Carrey video that's highly in circulation in India owing to Carrey's popularity, so you can say this is the role that introduced me to Chris Kattan and before watching it I had read a fair bit about him and his want to, sort of, "re-launch" himself and second-guessing his motives for making this ("he sees his fellow SNL actors Ferrell and Carrey having made it to the top and yada yada yada").
Even seen from perspective of a meta-film taken to absurd levels, this series does work (though it is shoddily made but I know that's not the point.) To say how much I liked it, let me tell you that I haven watched almost all the times it has been on television here in India through HBO India.

reply

That's the point. This is somewhat of a spoof, yes?

reply

It probably sounds weird, but I have to say that Kattan was surprisingly subtle in his comedy here. I kind of liked it.

Please note that "surprisingly subtle" is in comparison to the stuff he usually does, not anyone else's version of "surprisingly subtle."

I think the casting is absolutely perfect. the story is about him for god's sake and he is most definitely a "peculiar dancing boy" lol.

but i think his comic skills weren't used to their fullest.

I really loved this movie. I'm not a fan of Kattan's but I really loved his performance, and pretty much everything about this. Being a fan of Bollywood movies I couldn't help but watch this, and most fans of the genre will pretty much agree, especially westerners looking at it from a foreign fans viewpoint. It's similar to Bollywood calling, another American film about an American trying to make it in Bollywood, dealing with differing customs filmstyles.

Hero is much more humorous than Calling, though both had their good qualities, and having lived in Asia for several months, as well as loving the movies, it was great fun to watch and laugh over gaffes such as the public kiss in the former,(I remember the Richard Gear furor) and the dancing and language issues in each. The grandmother really stole the show in Hero. :D
