Story incomplete

I watched this recently and enjoyed it for what it was. But the third part just seemed to stop without resolving some matters, such as the situation at home and especially the subplot about losing the studio if the the movie tanked. They should have done a "one year later" segment at the end to tie up these loose ends.

I had the impression that this was a(n unusual) three-part "pilot" for a TV series. If so, that would help explain why many threads were left open.

I would have loved for this to be an ongoing series.

I share your sentiments about having this as a full series - I have watched it every time it has come up on HBO in the past few months and like it very much. Yes it it didn't seem to tie-up lose ends as much as we'd have liked it to be, though I don't think the "1/2/5/10/20 whatever years" later thing would have worked!

I don't think it was incomplete at all. Not every thing has to be spoon fed to me to be enjoyed. The premiere was obviously a success judging by the laughter and smiles in the audience, which all but guaranteed the movie to do well. According to comments made about film premieres by Monty and his sister's debtor, a solid premiere would be all important for the film, and Kattan having arrived, albeit late, after being satisified seeing the audience enthusiasm would have led to favorable commentary to media afterward, sealing the film's success.

Hollywood would probably never accept him in a romantic lead, but that was ok. The finished product had both silly romance and the humor which he was known for, and he accepted it as a step in the right direction and a compromise after seeing the audience enjoying it.

I don't understand what the loose ends were.

Jennifer was never going to get back with him, she was his ex. His father took advantage of him being out of town, but there was no cliffhanger there. Kattan left briefly, knowing he would NEVER be accepted as anything other than the typecast slapstick comedian he was known as being. This was most likely a one shot foreign attempt to be taken seriously, before going back to America.
