Pretty 'Kill Bill' like

-The lead:Uma Thurman - Zoe Bell

-Both characters are hired assasins

-A child made them stop killing

-They both survived an injury to their heads

-The posters are much alike

-Theme in both movies is revenge

-Anime scenes vs Comic book scenes

-Both movies contain scenes of decapitation

-Violence is shown in a humorous way

If I missed anything, feel free to add it to the list.

Well, if it has dozens of scenes stolen from better Asian cinema movies, then yes, it would be like Kill Bill (or any of Tarentino's other works)

reply

I'm not a Tarentino hater, but I did always think that the term 'Tarentino konck-off' was pretty ironic.

yes i thought so too. also reminded me little of buffy: little blond woman taking on big bad guys ;)

i did like the effect of the use of light.

Except Zoe Bell is actually 5'8" hardly short and petite like Sarah Michele Gellar. In real life she is a stunt woman, and martial arts expert. When I first saw the poster for the movie I thought it was Uma Thurman.

i didn't say she reminded me of the person, but of the character... and zoe didn't seem very tall to me in angel of death

reply

She was taller than some of the men in the film "Angel of Death", and it even states in her bio, that she doubles for tall women, both Uma Thurman and Lucy Lawless are around the same height, and at 5'8" she's taller than the average Hollywood female actor, most of them average around 5'3" to 5'6".

I see no resemblance in the two characters. Except for the fighting.

Buffy didn't shoot guns, and she didn't act cocky and drink booze and smoke, and wasn't gritty and rough around the edges like Eve., although Buffy did make witty quips, puns and snarky remarks. Eve did not make any of these types of remarks, she did make some wise ass remarks, that's a lot different.

Her character is more like private detective V.I. Warshawski the character played by Kathleen Turner in the film "V.I. Warshawski" who protects a young girl after her father is murdered, and like Eve, Vic is not afraid of physical confrontations with would-be attackers, relying on either her karate skills, or her Smith & Wesson semiautomatic pistol, she alos reminds me of Gena Rowland's character Gloria the former girl friend of a gangster protecting a young boy from the mob, in the film "Gloria".

The ironic thing is the posters for all three film have the women holding a pistol.

Movies will make you famous; Television will make you rich; But theatre will make you good.

No, you didn't miss anything. It is somewhat "Kill Bill"-ish.

I like Quentin Tarantino movies but the derivative movies made by inexperienced directors and experienced directors who should know better is getting kind of tiring. Something told me "Angel of Death" was sort of in this vein, but I watched it anyway because I wanted to see Zoe Bell.

Funny you should mention that, since Zoe was actually Uma Thurman's stunt double in Kill Bill.
