Very well done

I completely agree. Dominican cinema is still in its infancy and I could definitely see something as artistically and commercially successful as City Of God coming out of it in the near future. This movie had glimpses of that.

I actually cared about the lead character. He had real emotion and real conflict. It didn't feel like a hack director's attempt at an action/revenge flick, it felt personal. Perhaps there were too many pig scenes, haha, but it was still good. I'd put this on the same level as something like Bangkok Dangerous or even Man On Fire.

I thought the film was very well done as well and the LOL moment was when the tigueres girlfriend hid under the covers so that she wouldnt be shot... RTFOL.

Also on the bad side , the theatre in which they showed la soga (AMC Empire 25) was closed due to bedbugs and they had to exterminate the EXACT room in which the film was shown.

I live in the heights and ive seen manny on a number of occasions and this film is what alot of people are talking about due to the authenticity of things that ACTUALLY HAPPEN in the DR and not what hollywood thinks happens in the DR.I give it two thumbs up but if i was la soga in the film i would of killed the both of them ( im leaving thier names out so that people who read this and havent seen the film wont know who im talking about ) and put my " feelings " to the backburner..Live by the Sword......

But overall good film and i give it 2 thumbs up ..shout out to manny ...1
