I think Samantha Morton should've just played the mother.

I heard from an interview how some producers wanted her to be in the film, like play the mother or whatever, and she was like yeah sure, but only said it because she needed the money and wasn't really planning to be in the film but I would've preferred if she just went on and played the mother. She looks more like Lucy's mother than Susan Lynch and I can totally imagine her in the role.
