How come the cast is so old?

This seems like a pretty aged cast to be playing high schoolers. (OK, they're actually younger than I am, but not much). Edward Furlong is a cool actor, but I can't imagine they're gonna try to pass him off as a teenager. Monica Keena is frickin' beautiful, and I would never complain about her being cast in anything, but why did they dust off Shannon Elizabeth to play "Angela".

I guess some of the cast of the original were kind old at the time (like Linnea Quigley and Cathy Podewell), but I'd guess most of them were in their early twenties.

Anyway, it just seems kind of odd--like they're re-making a movie from the late 80's with a cast from the late 90's.

Even if they had cast younger people, it'd still be *beep*

Sometimes I doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion.

The characters in the remake are NOT teenagers like they were portrayed in the original, but adults (mid-late 20's) going to their friend Angela's (a club/party promoter) Halloween party.

Production began almost two years ago, which makes Shannon Elizabeth 34 at the time she made the movie- that's not old. Besides, there are plenty of adults in their 30's (and older) that go to parties and concerts, so it's not that far fetched. Remember this movie takes place on halloween night, not prom night.

I guess its to keep the 80s feel to it.
