Rip-off of The League of Gentlemen

I'm a big fan of the Kids in the Hall, I really am. But has anyone else noticed the striking similarity between DCTT and The League of Gentlemen? The "darkness", the town weirdos, even the music-- it's uncanny. Yet the UK's LoG was around at least 10 years previous to DCTT. I know The LoG is cited as being an "inspiration" to the Kids in their creating DCCT-- but that's like saying Jaws was an inspiration for Jaws 2.

Shall I list all the ways in which EVERYTHING ever made owes some debt to something. Not trying to be a dick though and I did see some definite nods to the third series of LOG. But only the third series. Still very distinctive though. Shall I mention how the original KITH series's are 'just' a rip off of MPFC? Still totally different though.
And cant you see how influenced LOG was by KITH? It goes two ways you know.

reply

Agreed. I guess the bottom line is, there's a demand for this sort of humour and the Kids supply it ably.

League of Gentlemen was great, until the third season, about two episodes in. After that it was just horrible, so horrible that I just gave up watching.

Actually, the guys were openly influenced to do this by The League of Gentlemen.

I am fully aware of the Kids series; You obviously didn't read my post very carefully. But that may not be too surprising, since reading (and especially writing) may not be your strong suit.
