Scarier than Real-Life?

I'm no pussy, especially when it comes to horror films in the form of cartoon animation, but it may have been because it was 3am when I watched this and the wind was howling outside.. but was it just me or was this movie absolutely, disturbingly scary?

It horrified me and gave me goosebumps.. this film beats the scare out of any Aliens film and modern day 'horror' films I think.

But that's just me.. did anyone else find this scary at all? It's okay, just because you admit it doesn't make you less of a man, I promise you. <3

Animation is always bad in animation. CGI at least has motion capture....but at least with animation, you can gt a bit more stylistic (I.E. Most anime).

This wasn't really scary, but it was pretty decent.....and violent.

reply

The only thing scary about this movie is how bad the animation was.

Hehe, agreed... it was so bad, and the dialogue so cringeworthy, and the whole dramaturgy so laughable that I never got into the mood of getting scared.

All these cute and cuddly movies that should be 2D animations are made 3D these days... but the one movie that should have been made as a 3D animated movie, Downfall, is made into a 2D animation. Talk about poor choices.

Its not scary as the game.
I would appreciate it more if it was done in 3D (even with the game graphics)

I hate this kind of animation (not the movie, the animation of the movie) I like the anime kind of animation of the cartoon, understand?

I also think this movie was way better than the "horror flicks" of this days. But if was in 3D...

And you can't see the movie and not play the game!

In my opinion, anime tends to look all alike and is too commonplace in our present day. I really enjoyed this film for the story, the violence, and I also really enjoyed the artwork of the animation. I have seen silly and crappy cartoons and this was done by a quality artist. It may not stand out against cgi movies like Beowulf. But I say this movie could have made a nice feature length live action. I have also seen all the trailers for the game and am looking forward to playing it once the prices drop.

if you thought this was scary, wait until you play the game.

instant masterpiece

Everything is made to be perfect.

Gory and not scary, totally agree. Actually, I'm sad to say, there was a scene or two where i almost expected Scooby Doo to enter.

Had they only made it look more like the game it would have been awesome.. and propably scary, too.. The game kept me on my toes, for sure =)

why is everyone such a jackass on the DeadSpace forum?? Wow - everyone here must be 14. Grow up or die.

I hate how IMDb signatures look like part of the post.

The only thing that bugged me about this movie were the unnecessarily gory and over-the-top death scenes of at least two characters. His name escapes me, but there was that security officer who had his hand cut off, then his jaw ripped off, that bugged me. When Shen was sliced in two, I was so pissed I honestly wondered if it was worth continuing to watch.

When I think about it, this movie made me more angry than anything else.

reply

Lol at you being "bugged" about an obviously gory animated film having too much gore... What is it with people watching this stuff and then saying it "bugged" them? Seriously, get over it or don't watch it. If you don't know what it is before you watch it then you're not using the internet correctly. Go play the game, then we'll see what you think about this stupid movie. The game is awesome and is a lot more gory than this borefest.
