Coulda been a contender!

Oh man, what horror fan does NOT like the creepy kid plot device? And this would have been a great, spooky, movie with that plot line alone if it had NOT been done with the tired old "found footage" technique. Man, what they could have done with music, and lighting and atmosphere--this lost opportunity is so tragic. I hope someone like from "The Conjuring" team steals this storyline and remakes it.

P.S. As ex-AMC soap fan "Dixie" looked great, and she is a good actress. The actors did a good job all in all.

The Conjuring sucks ass. This film is by no means a masterpiece but put it in the hands of that lot and it would be tripe.

It's funny that you mention her association with soap operas. I also remember her during her soap days (though I knew her as "Rosanna" on ATWT) and she was one of my favorites. When I saw that she was in this, I decided to rent it out from Netflix even though the theme or the home-movie aspect didn't really appeal much to me. As a fan of her's, I thought she did a great job.

I am normally a big fan of found footage movies and I am inclined to agree. While I didn't hate this movie, I feel the found footage angle may have held back the story back from going where it needed to go. For one thing, the parents should've put away the camera and tried to enlist some outside help a lot sooner. It annoyed me how whatever awful thing the kids did, the parents pretty much just said "oh my God!" and didn't do anything. Things just went back to normal until whatever next terrible deed they did. And it was clearly because the parents had to keep the camera running or else there wouldn't be a movie.

But there were some good and creepy moments, too. So it really wasn't all bad.
