My dear Columbia

What did they do to you!? The original one from the movie was so dainty and cute... loved her voice and just the character as a whole... the one from FOX was made to be some gothic clown remix of Harley Quinn... so so sad....

Also... is it weird to anyone see Reeve in Penny Dreadful (who I LOVED) and then seeing him play Riff Raff? Not that he did a terrible job.. it's just weird lol

Also.. I'm going to Marry Victoria.. 😍

Me too! She was one of my favorite characters!

Ashford was miscast in that role. She has scary talent and I think would have made a brilliant Magenta. Ivy Levan could have made a better Columbia, resurrecting the pixie like performance made famous by Nell Campbell.

reply

She sings good and have great potential but is NOT Columbia....

reply

Yes!! The new one was masculine and dull. Columbia is supposed to be a cute little firecracker with charisma and spunk! Not some angsty Hot Topic employee.

reply

She reminded me of Kesha

reply

She reminded me of Cyndi Lauper from back in the day.

Just sitting there among the zinnias, but the old Chinese man sold it to me anyways. For $1.95.

I thought Columbia was cute-- loved her hair. I could have done without the blue tongue-- but that's it.

I kinda liked the blue tongue, because it helped me imagine a back story for the character. It was blue because she had a lollipop 24/7, and it seemed it was a narcotic lollipop. A theory given much weight when she was going hysterical, but calmed down like a baby with a pacifier the instant Magenta stuck the lolly back in her mouth. The 'lifeless' delivery of her lines was because she was drugged out of her mind. Later on before the floor show we see her again without the narcotic lolly and she has enough presence of mind to rant at Frank. Not sure if that's really where Annaleigh was going with it, but I think she acted the part pretty well.

reply

Did she say she was in love with Frank at the end of the original RHPS? I don't remember that but haven't seen the original in awhile. ...and forgot why Frank hated Eddie.

reply

Yes, Columbia confesses her love to Frank before he turns her into a statute.

"I loved you. You hear me?! I loved you! But what did it ever get me? You just take take take and drain others of their love and emotion ..."

reply

OK. Thanks!

I honestly think she was one of the best ones in the bunch, much better than Magenta and Riff-Raff, to say the least. She added something fresher to the character. Plus her part in Time Warp was pretty great.

reply

I would have liked to see Haley Williams in that role.

When your trained and seasoned actors you can critic performances. Columbia was the BEST part of the dumpster fire and close second for Janet. She added something fresh yet with enough nods to the original. Don't comment if you are not trained.

We can comment all we want. This message board is for audience OPINIONS. If you want the opinions of trained actors, go find a trained actors forum.

When YOU'RE able to spell and use proper grammar YOUR CRITIQUE might be taken seriously.

That being said... It doesn't take any kind of training or seasoning to know when something sucks donkey balls.

reply

It's called an s7. Worst spellcheck in history. Do your research. And, Cardinal Rule of the interwebs: you go grammar nazi in a thread; Your argument is forfeit.

reply

She was miscast in this, point blank. You can both argue grammar and spelling all you want, but it doesn't "forfeit" anything, or change the fact that she didn't fit the role at all. You don't need to be a trained actor to see that.

reply

Cardinal Rule of Rocky Horror fans is that we can over-ride any other Cardinal Rules.

And how "trained" an actor do I have to be to critique a movie? I didn't go to The Juilliard School but I have been acting since 1967. Plus, audience opinions matter as well, obviously!

I totally agree! I've always had such a crush on Columbia and they just ruined her.... Luckily I can go back and watch the blue ray of the original and fall back in love with the REAL Columbia...
