VJ Casting Was Inspired LC Not

Victoria Justice owned Richard O'Briens Janet, I expect big things from her in the near future.
However, someone needs to explain to the producers transgenders and transvesities are not the the same thing.
I believe Reeve woukd have made a far better Frankenfurter.

In closing, I was devastated at learning of Tim's condition and can only hope the future bodes well for such a talented actor.

Victoria Justice is better than Susan Sarandon.

Only to teenyboppers.

Depends on how you look at it. Acting was probably a little better by Sarandon but the singing was definitely better by Justice. For me, I prefer Victoria Justice. I can say the same applies for Ryan McCartan as Brad.

Oh and Laverne Cox was bad at both.. especially the singing.

I can see your point. Maybe it's a generational thing. I'm 43-- I look at Victoria Justice and all I can think about is how I suffered through watching Victorious for the sake of my niece who absolutely adored it. I am glad that it made my niece happy, while I could feel my brain melting out through my ears. I just do not enjoy Nick/Disney programs at all--I tolerate them.

reply

I love Victorious. :)

I love you, Kristen Stewart. :) You are so beautiful and talented. I would love to perform with you.

reply

Of course you do, you're a youngster and it's your generation. And when I'm viewing a show like 'Victorious' with youngsters I tolerate it for their sake. But no, I don't personally enjoy it.

reply

Victoria Justice is perfect as Janet. As I've said, everyone in the remake was better than the original except Laverne Cox. No one is better as Frank except Tim Curry. He's the best.

I love you, Kristen Stewart. :) You are so beautiful and talented. I would love to perform with you.

reply

yeaaaahhh no. I get that is your opinion and you can watch it all you want.

I grew up with an older sister who played Janet at our local theater's midnight showings. Her boyfriend was Brad and his brother was Frankie. They would come over and rehearse and I knew the soundtrack backward and forward before I ever saw the show. But then I saw it over and over. I know the original extremely well. I admit my fondness and I realize I am biased. But I gave it a chance.

I tried to watch the new one. I really did, but it lacked any edge and heart. It felt over the top silly and far too peppy. No one was awful, they were adequate but just not the same and not in a good way.

reply

I agree absolutely.
Frank doesn't work if he is a woman.
The whole point was transVESTite.

She was great.
But I don't think a woman was right for the role.

Reeve would have been must better.
That is a beautiful man!

reply

I couldn't agree more the thing is unless you knew that Laverne Cox was previously a man there doesn't seem to be anything strange about Dr. Frank-N-Furter; she's a woman that wears dresses... so what?
The odd thing is meant to be that these morally upright 1950's like couple meet this guy that first looks like he's out of a horror movie but is actually a transvestite both challenging there idea of norms and showing how campy those old horror movies are.

Also look at the bit where he/she jumps in bed with Brad and Janet the joke surprise is meant to be that that Janet isn't such a good girl and the surprise that he's so easily able to talk Brad into bed.
Instead we get Janet to have sex with a woman which isn't that surprising as we've been culturally conditioned to see girl on girl arousing not subversive and even if it is meant to be shock it should be put last not first and Brad has sex with a woman with big tits... big shock? Again it's the cultural norm for men to be less monogamous so while he's still an *beep* it's hardly the rebellion against cultral norms it was in the original.
i.e. Perhaps women like sex and perhaps that straight up right guy isn't so stright after all.

reply

Totally agree. But Reeve is a better Riff Raff than the original.

I love you, Kristen Stewart. :) You are so beautiful and talented. I would love to perform with you.

reply

The original Riff Raff was much better, particularly in the musical numbers. Of course he should be since he wrote it and played Riff Raff live for years in the orginal musical.

reply

Uh, no. Reeve is better. Doesn't matter who wrote it. Reeve is better. Fact.

I love you, Kristen Stewart. :) You are so beautiful and talented. I would love to perform with you.

reply

Uh, I think you need to look up the word fact because you clearly don't understand what it means.

You're wrong, of course, because the person who wrote the character does matter. They created the character from nothing. They are god of that character so only they truly know how the character should be. Everyone else is just trying to interpret that character (poorly in Reeve's case) to the best of their ability.

Setting that aside, the original Riff Raff is still better because he's performed the role hundreds of times in multiple forms. He's had the opportunity to master that character. I'd bet money Reeve would agree with me and it's pretty clear from reviews and social media that most of the world does as well, which makes it as close to fact as an opinion ever can be.

reply

My word is law. Reeve is better. Fact. Final. Doesn't matter who created the part. Final!

I love you, Kristen Stewart. :) You are so beautiful and talented. I would love to perform with you.

Carrion- It's pointless arguing with someone whose user name is Kristen Stewart Forever, just given it up. It's obvious from the username that their judgment in who the better actor is is deeply flawed.

Well I enjoyed both Brad and Janet in this new version, Riff Raff, magenta, and Columbia we're all horrible compared to the original. And don't even get me started on the man converted to a female that played Frank. I am only 30 years old but I was introduced to the original Rocky Horror when I was very young. I remember loving it as soon as I it's seen it! I also remember how it must have felt for people when it first came out because I felt as if I was out of place when I told others how much I enjoyed it. This new film just doesn't have that same affect on people. It seems to me it was a little too politically correct, as is the majority of things these days unfortunately.
