the way i see it, every time this is performed on stage it is different from the original 70s stage show. different cast, sets, stage direction and musical arrangements. i've been going to see the stage show for 20 years and i've seen many different versions. if you're a fan of the rocky horror show the changes and differences don't matter. the rocky horror picture show should not be treated any differently.

My only problem with this is that it tried too hard to be like the 1975 film version. Instead of being a direct adaptation of the original stage play. This should have been a lot closer to the stage play to help differentiate itself from the 1975 film. It's as if the director hasn't seen a single stage play version of The Rocky Horror Show before.
shareThe problem is, they didn't have the rights to the stage show, only the original film's screenplay. They weren't allowed to use anything from the stage show that wasn't already in the 1975 script. And to the OP, the hate comes from the fact that this was literally just a neutered retread of the first film with none of the more taboo elements and sexual identity exploration that made the original so important to so many people.

shareI liked this version BETTER than the original. With the exception of Tim Curry is still the best Frank N Furter. No one is better than him. He is the best Frank. But I found Victoria Justice, Ben Vereen, Adam Lambert and Reeve Carney better than the ones from the original film. Especially Victoria Justice. I don't care for Susan Sarandon in the role. She wasn't even sexy. Justice is sexy as can be. Plus, this one is bigger budget and more colorful.
I love you, Kristen Stewart. :) You are so beautiful and talented. I would love to perform with you.
That would only make it better for a vapid teenager.
