I'm at the point were they don't let you use Iron Man, so I'm using:
Deadpool
Gambit
Daredevil
Wolverine
...with a little bit of Jean Grey thrown in there at times since she was the first person I "unlocked".
Wolverine (regeneration, good punch)
The Thing (clap stuns plenty, good punch for bosses and body)
Human Torch (like Pyro in previous version, good all around stun and fireballs when maxed can kill in 2-3 hits without even having the enemy on screen). I maxed his power to 130 now. Quick flight is essential for some missions like the Latverian cyborg.
I'm experimenting with the 4th slot (right now it's Nanite Nick Fury). I used to use Iceman but he doesn't have enough body to sustain multiple hits.

i like to have a mix of a big tough guy (Juggernaut), a long range guy (Iron Man), and a couple of melees (Wolverine/Deadpool)
I sometimes mix it up with The Thing, Ice Man, Gambit and Daredevil

Captain America
Thor is outrageously over-powered and clears the room with one move.
Gambit makes it rain cards, and his 52 pickup is perfect for any boss.
Green Goblin, I thought was going to be crap, but he literally rains pumpkin bombs and is very quick. And finally, Captain America is there to give me more XP and better fusion. Also, this team gives me a 5% criticals bonus. At the beginning I played as Wolverine til about level 20, and Deadpool until I got Green Goblin. Penance also got some PT and same with Jean.
Venom sucks, Invisible Woman sucks, Songbird sucks, Iron Man sucks. Spiderman is improved from MUA, but not enough to make my team. I like Torch and Iceman, but again not strong enough. Thing is lame and I'm just waiting til I get HULK!

Don't really like Thing, but him and Wolverine are nice close range fighters that distract the enemies while the long range sniper Ms. Marvel does her thing. Will definitely swap Hulk for the Thing once I find the last Gamma thing.
Storm
Ms. Marvel
Storm's lighting and Hail storm is just filthy...when you get it charged up, she really clears out the room fast with the chain lightning. I also love the wind powers that blow all the enemies down. I think hands down she has the best looking powers. Phenomenal animations.
Ms. Marvel's energy blast is awesome for long range. Definitely the easiest way to beat bosses since it auto targets from far away. She's also got those awesome photon balls that circle around her, so she she's fighting in melee, she can tear through people.
I like to switch characters every level. With so many characters to chose from it could get a bit boring just playing same ones all the time.

Right now I've got a good team going.
My main three are:
Deadpool- He's just made of awesome
Wolverine- He rarely dies
Ms.Marvel- She is a great powered character
I've been rotating the fourth, calling them my red shirt. But so far I've use mainly Gambit and Human Torch in that slot.
Any ideas, who to add to my lineup?

Ska is the greatest genre since jazz was invented.
Wolverine (As usual, overpowered but vyer useful when going in for close up attacks)
Storm (This is the best use of her powers since XL1! Her lightning strike/chain lightning is strong again, her hail storm can freeze multiple enemies and her wind gush knocks down a lot of enemies who are easy to pick off once they're down)
Songbird (Her shatter scream is one of the strongest attacks in the game, she takes out enemies so quickly, even bosses with that attack alone.
Iceman (So much fun, his powers look so much better here. His freeze beam is very helpful and his ice pike move is actually very useful in this game)
Then I switch between Jean Grey or Invisible Woman (their psychic hold/force field are so helpful when fighting dozens of enemies by stopping them in their track, leaving you and team to beat the crap out of them.) Not to mention, Jean's psychic blast is gets really powerful when you charge it up.
Hulk and The Thing are pure powerhouses and can clear a room pretty quickly, switching off Logan for one of them.
Deadpool is priceless and pretty powerful as usual, so I switch off him with Iceman.
