Okay, this isn't a terrible movie

After seeing many of Leigh Scott's vampire movies I thought this would be awful, but instead, I actually like it to a degree.

A 5/10. Some of the effects aren't great, but the movie is actually funny at times and some of the makeup effects are good.

No... it was pretty awful. Usual SyFy reliance on 'sexy' actresses acting 'sexy' and fighting 'sexily' to carry a lackluster story.

reply

Let me put it this way, I didn't hate this one as much as I hate other syfy movies. I thought it was better than the past couple of syfy movies that have aired in the past couple of weeks. It was better than the film that came on before it at least.

This movie is just a mess. Oh my goodness! It isn't coherent. The acting is lackluster at best and the special effects are amateurish.

This is just sad.

reply

Compare it to the Dunwich Horror.

I agree with Sama...it wasn't as bad as a lot of other SciFi (refuse to say SyFy lol, that's so retarded) movies. It kept my attention for a while when the MLB playoffs and Sunday night football was on, so that's saying something. I liked a lot about it, but a lot was really bad.

Like...it seemed like the plot didn't get started until 40 minutes till the end. That's what bothered me the most.

I could go nitpick all the other things, but what's the point.

I was interested in Kristy Romano...she sure us growing up. I look at her and think "Girl from Disney"...so to see her all grown up is neat.

I think my favorite shot of the movie was the man character opening the door to her sleeping, and she woke up with wolf eyes smiling all happy he was alive and there. It was cute :P

Actually, another thing I didn't like was the main "hero". He wasn't really likeable at all. He didn't learn anything about using his powers, he was always kinda blaze about everything...then in the end he turned into superwolf. Where was the progression and development of his character?

Dear Fooser: I think you meant "blase'."

I dare you to try and sit through Raptor Planet. That one was the worst I've ever seen by them. Almost unwatchable. The effects were awful, it used stock footage, the dinosaurs changed species in sequences, the whole concept of alien dinosaurs and talking cockroaches. God, I get a headache thinking about it.

The previews always look cool for the SciFi movies...then you watch them and it's sooooo bad. That's why I was surprised that I actually stuck with this one for the whole movie.

The previews are usually the best parts of the movie anyway. Once you're hyped up for anything, you're not really impressed or surprised anymore once you see the final product (That is if you choose to).

Not expecting much is usually the best thing to do anyway, for anything. I actually happened upon this movie accidentally. So, I guess since it is a SyFy movie, just take it as it is. I tried watching it without actually picking it apart, but I can't help but notice the lack of character and story development. It's a subpar kinda movie just to entertain, not to heavily impress. I've seen worse where I just find myself flipping the channel without it going pass the opening credits.

haha. that's true. but its deciding whether its worth the space. you can always delete it afterward, but it's that burden of knowing you saved it there in the first place that may haunt you.

Rented the DVD and watched it last night. While this is hardly the worst movie I've ever seen (it was redeemed slightly by a few cool special effects sequences), it definitely ranks somewhere on my worst movies list... and I thrive on bad movies.

The story is virtually incoherent. It's like 75 minutes into the 92 minute film before anything starts to make sense (and at 41 minutes, my best friend and I agreed that it felt like it'd been on for three hours). They amassed practically every cliched one-liner known to man and stuck them in all in the script... whether it made sense in the scene or not. None of the characters were particularly likable or memorable and the acting was fairly atrocious across the board. There's random insert shots of models that are REALLY hokey which don't remotely match the locations. The battle sequences have too many characters, stretch on way too long and are so fast-cut that it's difficult to discern what the hell's going on (I swear the head queen vampire was killed like 7 times in the final battle). And adding insult to injury, as the film concluded, it was far too clear that it was a pilot for a TV show -- thank God that never happened!

So this was a sci-fi original, huh? I didn't think Sci Fi could possibly produce anything that would make their brief "Flash Gordon" revival look like award winning material by comparison, but they certainly succeeded with this turkey.
