One thing that kinda... disappointed me

Hey guys,

I've seen this movie a few times now 'cause I do love it!
There is just one thing, actually two, that disappointed me and that was his girlfriend (later first wife Cynthia Powell) at that time.

Where was Cynthia in this movie? That kinda bothered me and the other one is about his eyes but there is a topic about that already so I'm not going to talk about that :) (Not sure if there is a topic about Cynthia tho..)

So... What do you guys think about this?

Well before the end where we see him before he leaves for Hamburg, the last thing that happens is Julia is killed. That happened in the summer of '58, John began dating Cynthia in autumn that year, that could be a reason, but I suspect it's probably because the whole movie was about his musical journey and relationship with his family, she was just omitted to avoid overcomplicating the story.

At least that's what I think

Hmmm, good point didn't think about that!

I agree with you there. But Cynthia had known John since 1957 and went to a lot of The Quarrymen gigs and quite honestly I don't know why they didn't insert the future wife into the story and scale back a little on the father/mother/aunt angst.

I asked a similar question back when this movie first came out and I remember someone telling me that Yoko had something to do with it. I am probably wrong.. but maybe that could be a possible reason.

Your question had me curious as to what Yoko's reaction to the film was. Yoko had nothing to do with the content of the movie.

The director only nervously called Yoko to see if she could use the song "Mother" because that would make a perfect ending. And it did.

Yoko said, 'she wanted to see the movie first'. After seeing the movie Y said, 'she'd (director) done good by John'. She later took Sean to see it.
