do you think this movie shouldnt have been made...

the story was already finished, this movie was totally unnecessary and had a very weak story, what do you think??

yes I agree it shouldn't have been made its straight up garbage, but hey the world revolves around money.

Disagree.

In the world of manga, the stories continue to the point of absurdity, yet fans continue to buy them (I realize I'm just helping your argument here). The original Afro Samurai episodes were good enough as is and could have been left well enough alone. That being said, I still enjoyed this movie all the same. It had some valid arguments (the cycle of violence never ends; the confrontation of ones deepest fears; etc), continued the story in an interesting manner, and didn't sacrifice visuals and style for the sake of a cheap plot.

All in all it was a fun ride. Just my 10 cents...

The Afro Samurai series already had sequel written ALL over it. With many characters left alive probably so the writers could develop a sequel based on those characters in case the series were successful.

raba & giohell666, what are you even doing on the messageboard for it in the first place, then? To bitch & moan like a whiny bunch of babies? If you didn't like it, then why do you want to further discuss it? When I don't like something & think it's "straight up garbage," the LAST thing I want to do is to discuss it further. What's the matter, your lives don't already suck enough, you have to go & try to make other people as miserable as you, too? Here's an idea: if you think it's garbage, then ignore it. Concern yourself with things you DO like & quit being a bunch of trolls...the boards are meant for "friendly, positive discussion" of movies, tv shows & actors, and if you come here solely to say "this sucked!" then you're not contributing anything worthwhile to the discussion. And if you're going to bitch & force your negative opinion on others, the LEAST you could do is explain why it sucked.

It was a great follow-up movie, for what the series is in the first place: a typical revenge-story hack-n-slash tale of bloodshed. No there's not much depth to it; there isn't supposed to be. It's stylistic. If you're looking for heavy, complex plotline then look elsewhere.

Loved the movie. Ofcourse this movie had to be made!

the series was pretty great. resurrection was absolutely horrible.

and hyper - waaaa. there is no logical reason to simply ignore that which one disliked.

as for explaining WHY it sucked - there's no need to explain the obvious. the plot was crappy, ludicrous, and flawed.

it was never explained WHY one needs a #2 headband to fight the #1. then the father clone (which was supposed to be purely genetic, yet had red robot eyes [*facepalm*]) kills the #1 and takes the headband. then afro gets frankensteined (sup, cheesy electricity?) and is magically alive and healed (*facepalm*). then... instead of just fighting the clone (since i guess the #2 headband is pointless), he takes the time to wrap it before fighting (while, of course, the clone just stands around and watches, instead of attacking/finishing him) - for no apparent reason. inconsistency is inconsistency. terrible plot is terrible.

this sucked. instead of being a moron and ignoring it, i'll tell others that it sucked, so that they could save themselves 100 minutes.

edit: and the fact that virtually every 'enemy' in this was someone who was already killed just made it suuuuuuper cheesy.

story wise I was confused since it wasn't exactly a sequel. People who should have been dead were alive, and events that should have happened didn't etc. But to be honest afro samurai's plot in general (the series and the movie) isn't exactly award winning. I honestly watched it solely for the animation, which I enjoyed. Animation wise the movie, obviously, was better than the series. So in that sense I enjoyed the movie more so than the series.

I liked it quite a bit, and didn't think the story was hugely weak going as what kind of movie I was sitting down to watch. I thought there was some character development with Afro, even if it wasn't a whole lot. And some great visuals. I wasn't expecting some brilliant piece of story telling; I was expecting some kick-ass visuals and some badass fight sequences. And that's what I got.

This ain't my first tea party...
