Why is there so much interest in a failed remake of a classic?

This is a remake of a much superior movie SINGLE WHITE FEMALE which already had tons of inferior rip-offs made of it. Why is there so much interest in yet another failed remake of this classic?

this is not a remake (probably safe to assume you meant ripoff however) of single white female. Jennifer Jasen Lee wanted to become the other woman where in this she just wants to have her all to herself, and while yes i can agree they are basically going for the same idea i dont feel its fair to call it a rip off of that, Single white female was probably one of the best obsessed stalker movies around but by no means the first. however yes it dose not change the fact that this movie was not original or well done and probably would have been better off not being made. Leighten meester did do a good job though i will give her that much, she just needed a better script.

"SWF" isn't original either. Check out "3 Women" (1977), starring Sissy Spacek and Shelley Duvall as the odd girl (SS) obsessed with her roommate (SD).
IMDb synopsis:
Pinky is an awkward young teen who starts work at a spa in the California desert. She becomes overly attached to fellow spa attendant Millie when she becomes her roommate. Millie is a lonely outcast who desperately tries to win attention with constant upbeat chatter. They hang out at a bar owned by a pregnant artist and her has-been cowboy husband. Two emotional crises occur that cause drastic changes among the women.
