Borderline Personality Disorder

I don't know if this was brought up yet, but I'm feeling this is what Rebecca had instead of being Bipolar.

She showcases a lot of the symptoms like copying Sara's appearance.

Also was this movie supposed to be a modern version of a Single White Female? Very similar storyline except this was set in a college.

Btw I'm not trying to be ignorant or anything because Hollywood exaggerates everything. My guess is she had this and could of been a sociopath at the same time...

My momma always said there'd be days like this, days like this, days like sh!t

I'm not so sure that one could be both at the same time... but es possible. I'm going to take a guess that she was just generally psychotic or a sociopath based on the things that Rebecca did, AND that she was prescribed Zyprexa. That's an antipsychotic, used in the treatment of psychosis and episodes of the latter. It's probably been used at some point in BPD patiens, I could see that...but I'm pretty sure there was never really a specific diagnosis given for Rebecca. I've been wondering about it myself, but the Zyprexa was a good clue.

Borderline personality disorder does fit her well.

"Identity disturbance: markedly and persistently unstable self-image or sense of self." As indicated when she wanted to be Sara's sister, Emily.

"Frantic efforts to avoid real or imagined abandonment."
As proven by her constant need for reassurance with Sara.

"Inappropriate anger or difficulty controlling anger."
As indicated by her attacks on various friends of Sara's.

" delusions or severe dissociative symptoms"
Again, when she got that tattoo and wanted to be Sara's sister.

"Recurrent suicidal behavior, gestures, threats or self-injuring behavior such as cutting, interfering with the healing of scars (excoriation) or picking at oneself."
When she cut herself and beat herself up.

Of course it is hollywood so it is a pretty extreme example as not all BPD are psychotic like that.

watching this film SWF popped into my head. I believe Rebecca has Borderline Personality Disorder as well as Bi-Polar Disorder. Borderline Personality Disorder is a personality disorder and Bi-Polar Disorder is mood disorder so both can concurrently occur within a patient. Zyprexa is a good clue for Bi-Polar but yes has also been used with patients with Borderline Personality Disorder. Suffice to say I believe both the mood disorder and personality disorder are occurring in Rebecca.
