stock footage used - Katrina?

Anyone noticed that after the hurricane hit the neighborhood, the aftermath seems so familiar like news footage from Katrina? I wasn't a hundred percent sure until I saw the fire truck with Lafayette written across it... It seems tasteless but they couldn't spend millions to replicate a scene like that... Overall, I thought this movie wasn't so bad with the budget that they had to work with. 5.5/10

The film was shot in Lafayette, LA. The scene you are referencing was not from Katrina, but was real footage of emergency response to a tornado that struck the city during production. We grabbed the camera and shot the response as well as the actors during a real flash flood that almost wiped out the whole set.

I just think it's awesome that as a director you take time out of your day to post on the boards. Whether or not people like you, your films, or your politics...you have a respect for your work (and the fans) that a lot of filmmakers lack.

I don't know whether to praise you for that realism or tell you to put the camera down and run for your life. =) Seriously though, what the other guy said about posting here, and kudos for turning out a an entertaining little flick on what I'm sure was a ridiculously small budget (and tell GiGi the Scapers still lurve her). And also, make sure the Lafferty fellow gets more gigs if you can. Very talented young man.

I would be seriously embarassd to have my name related to this garbage if I was you. I have seen better movies made by 10 year olds

but still, he has made movie that has made the shelves, have you? ever?

There was a Leigh involved in this movie, but as the writer, not as the director...
So all the buttkissers are kindly advised to hold their lips. :)

Um, actually as a writer/producer of the film... Just because his IMDB handle contains the word director does not mean that he has to direct every project in which he is involved. Might want to be more well informed when attacking people on message boards. I'm not even necessarily a fan of the guy, I just find your ignorance to be annoying, despite your closing with a smiley face emoticon. Thank you. :)

Is it a prerequisite of a film critic to be a director? or have to do with a movie it all? Nope! You just need an opinion. And his is as good as anyone else's.

With all do respect. This was not a good movie. Just the fact the director made a movie that made the shelves doesn't change that.

Putting the pain in the budget is no excuse. The Birds and Vertigo (both by Hitchcock) had a similar budget and scored 7,8 and 8,4 where this flick scored 3,0.

I am no critic, nor a pro, but I know a bad movie when I see it.

Well, I am just glad, we got the right info on the subject of this thread and not 20 pages long discussion of who has more intelligence...

...and respect to director/writer, who has enlightened us about the making of the footage. I find that little piece of information quite interesting to read.

...best wishes from Slovenia....
